Few more days to go, we will be celebrating the grandest festival in the country, SINULOG FESTIVAL 2020. During the celebration, visitors and attendees can choose variety of events that they can attend to.

This coming January 17, the first music festival of its calibre on this side of the globe, THE BALADHAY MUSIC FESTIVAL is bringing a stellar line up of international DJs and local artist to play on Sinulog weekend.

The top headlines of the music festival are Danny Avila, the Spanish house, electro house DJ and producer. British Dj and record producer, D.O D., America EDM DJ Makasi and Dutch DJ and record producer duo Blasterjaxx.

Top Manila Bands including the timeless electronic rock band Sanwich, Pedicab and IV of Spades are also expected to play during the music festival.

Homegrown Cebuano artists, Victor Jao, Gino V, Budoy, Intertwined, Mandaue Nights, Sepia Times and Route 83 will be also participating.

Baladhay Music Festival brings top-rate production and technical values to the fore. Cebu's Blackstraw Production team collaborated with Manila's Control Group to give you one of the most technically complex set ups in Cebu. The technical preparations started in September of last year to ensure that they will bring and showcase the stage to international standard levels.

This premier event comes from the producers if Binibining Cebu and Visayan Music Festival, the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation Inc.

BALADHAY -Sinulog dance steps was originated from the story of Rajah Humabon's adviser, Baladhay.He was ill and brought to the chapel where the image of Sto. niño enthroned. He was heared shouting. When he was asked to explain, he said that the image of Sto. Niño was on top of him trying to wake him up.He could not explain why he is dancing as if mimicking in the river. Which became the traditional steps of Sinulog.

Prices starts from P1,500 (General Admission ) to P75,000 for  exclusive Morals and Malice VIP tables good for 10 pax.

Standing VIP tickets are priced at P2,500 while standard VIP tables are sold at P50,000.

Interesting Facts That You Should Know About Sinulog

Interesting facts that I would like to share to everyone for them to understand about the celebration. Before we Celebrate the grandest festival of culture, music and colors, Sinulog 2020.

Justification:The Holy image of Snr. Sto Niño represents the true God. Thus, we can't consider him a mere Saint with the same level and category of the other Saints.Sto. Niño is God and not just a saint.

Justification: The title was named by the Holy See in Vatican-it is the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Rome, the episcopal see of the Pope, and an independent sovereign entity.

Justification: Starting in 1980, Cebu City government organized the Sinulog Festival and eventually gave also incentives to tribal dance groups.The parade was composed of students dressed in Moro costume,dancing the Sinulog to the beating of drums.

Justification: A term which describes the back and forth movement of water currents.

Justification:The image was identified by the Legazpi expedition as the same image given by Ferdinand Magellan to the Cebuanos and Queen Juana in 1521 when the first Spanish expedition to part of the world found in Cebu.

Justification: The image was vested in a red cape and sash, symbolizing the rank of a general and military boots.

Justification: The twelve inches tall image was made of dark wood in Baroque style. Meanwhile, the church was originally made of bamboo and mangrove palm and claims to be the oldest parish in the Philippines.

Justification:In 2006,Sinulog Festival was first seen live in  TV broadcast and webcast, reaching to US mainland, Australia.Some parts in Europe and Asian.

Justification:The tittle was given by the Philippine Navy during the 446th anniversary of the image's Kaplag ( "rediscovery" or "findin").

Final Thought:  Spiritual intelligence needs to be added to this list as well.  Without this type of intelligence young people are not fully equipped with the resources necessary for their full participation about the celebration.

I know each one of us is taking measures in advance to prevent something dangerous. But, staying at home during the colorful festivity is kinda boring I think, especially when you find out that some of your friends are celebrating Sinulog regardless of the weather condition.😊

Here are some of my 7 personal tips that you might consider and this is totally 100 % based on experience on how experience a Great Sinulog Celebration.

PRIORITIES HEALTH CONCERNS (Always)

If you have plans to jaunt during the Sinulog Festival, it is better to take Vitamin C before you will start the excursion.

WEAR TRENCH COAT

There are some people who would like to look attractive, fashionable and pleasant during the festivity but don’t want to get a shower in the rain. Well, a trench coat is the best for you. It’s a waterproof heavy-duty cotton comes with various lengths ranging from just above the ankles or above the knee.

WEAR SNEAKERS

It’s agreeable that sneakers are the most comfortable pair of shoes to use especially when doing excursions. Sinulog celebration sometimes treated to some people in a funny way as”Alay-Lakad”(Layman’s term: walking or hiking).

BRING WATERPROOF CASE FOR YOUR GADGETS

Jaunting in the streets during the Festival especially to the places where parties are spotted.  Rain or Shine, it is already expected that you will get wet and dirty. Of course, we don’t want to take our phones for a swim with diluted paints and water.

MOISTURIZE , CRYSTALLIZE AND NOURISH

Moisturize and Crystalize your body by drinking water. Thus, be sure to hydrate. Drink only protected water supplied and next level drinks always the boiled water and warm water.But if you are comfortable to buy bottled waters in the sidewalk, that is fine too. There are many available bottled water everywhere in the city.

BE FRIENDLY

If you have plans to attend an event or parties such as Hyper Wonderland, Spectrum, Invasion Sinulog, Lifedance and etc.Thus, expect a crowded ambiance.

DANCE, SHOUT AND GREET!

Party in the street and dance to the rhythm of the drums and shout Pit Señor!!!!Pit Señor!!!!Pit Señor!!!!

Make friends and greet them by saying, Pit Senyor Bai! Pit Senyor Dai!

Brgy. Basak San Nicolas Gripped All Major Awards During SINULOG TRIBU SA KABATAAN 2020

Besting nine other contingents, Brgy. Basak San Nicolas were able to took home all the major awards in the Sinulog Tribu Sa Kabataan 2020 held last Sunday, January 12 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

They took all the 1st prize awards in all of the Categories. From Best in Street Dancing, Best in Musicality and the Ritual Showdown.

The group's dance routine was choreographed by Dennis Navarro.

Carcar City Division Slayed the Sinulog Sa Lalawigan 2020

Aside from being the Grand Champion of Last Year's Sinulog Grand Parade for the Sinulog- Based Category, Carcar City slayed this year's Sinulog Sa Lalawigan.

They also won in Best in Costume and Best in Musicality and 2nd-placer for the Street Dancing Competition.

A total of six participating contingents joined for the Sinulog Sa Lalawigan 2020.

These are the Tribu Kasadyaon of LGU TOLEDO , Tribu Ginatilanon of GINATILAN, CEBU , TALISAY CITY, LAPU-LAPU CITY and Tribu Bogohanon of BOGO CITY,CEBU.

This six contingents will also compete this coming January 19, 2020 for the SINULOG FESTIVAL 2020 Grand Showdown at the Cebu City Sports Center.

SINULOG 2020 | No Signal Shutdown?

For the last three consecutive years of Sinulog Festival Celebration, the whole Cebu experienced " NO PHONE SIGNALS."

On January 8, 2020, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella and Cebu City Police Officer ( OIC) Col.Soriano announced that there will be no interruptions of Cellular Phone Signals during the celebration of Sinulog 2020.

In addition, around 1600 personnel will be send-off during the SINULOG FESTIVAL and they will shut down phone signals "ONLY WHEN IT'S NEEDED."

Meanwhile, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella is confident that the Philippine National Police and Intelligence Team will ensure that the entire Cebu is secured for the Sinulog Festival.
