MALABUYOC ; A Must Visit Town In South Cebu!

Explore and Wander the Best of Malabuyoc!

I never thought that this humble town of Malabuyoc has lot to offer, from Leisure to adventure travel. All I know is that this town is endowed with beautiful natural resources. This town is one of the perfect base for so many adventures.

It was a sunny weekend when I booked a stay via Airbnb.  I never thought of visiting any other places or spots since my plan is just to stay away from the bustling city. We arrived at Bamboo Beach House at around 4:00 PM.

All room at MLK Bamboo Beachhouse feature ocean views and are equipped with air conditioning and hot/cold shower. Some rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a balcony, and a private bathroom while others have access to the shared bathroom.

Bamboo Beachhouse offers accommodation in Malabuyoc, 30-minute drive from Kawasan Falls and 45-minute drive from Oslob Whaleshark Watching. Free Wi-Fi is provided in public areas. Guests can snorkel in front of the property.

Guests can relax at the pool or garden area while the common lounge/TV area at the property is also available for guest use. There is a separate lounge area for sunbathing right next to the ocean. A pool billiard table is also available for guest use. Guests can enjoy all-day breakfast selection while Western and Filipino dishes are also offered, Vegan and vegetarian options are also available.

MAGICAL ADVENTURE TO KABUTONGAN FALLS

Kabutongan Falls is one of the major attraction and most magical adventures that you can do in the town of Malabuyoc. The trail follows the blue waters of a narrow stream up  the canyon until you reach the Main Waterfall. Here, you will find a hidden cave behind the waterfall and several different cliff-jumps.

Disclaimer: This time, the water is not that blue because of the heavy rainfall earlier that morning.

The trail is only a short 30-minutes but there are a few sections that require rope  (it is installed). It is possible without a guide but the guide is vital to help protect natural areas like this and they will help keep you safe. When prices are not inflated I always take a guide as this is the sustainable way for tourism in small villages like this.

After 30-minutes we reached the Kabutongan Waterfall viewpoint. From the viewpoint, you can only see half of the waterfall as the rock wall wraps around, concealing the waterfall. Luckily you can get a closer like by swimming down in the pool below.

GETTING A GUIDE FOR YOUR TREK

Our guide was very kind and friendly. He is very informative and funny to talk with. As we jumped and trekked the trail, he waited patiently. The guide fee is cost 300 PHP but we gave him 600 PHP that includes for our motorbike rental fee. But, the motorbike will only cost 30 PHP (one way- from the main road).

GETTING THERE:

BUS: From the Cebu South Bus Terminal, take the bus headed to Malabuyoc. Enjoy the ride and let the conductor know where you’d like to be dropped off. I suggest get down at the town proper and ask the locals for directions to the places you’d like to visit.
